Marc Vidal snapped off the Blaze Tour event hosted by Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn, NY.
Skyline Billiards played host to the December 14 stop of the Blaze 9-Ball Tour, won by Marc “Spain” Vidal. A strong field of 48 came out to Brooklyn, NY, to play, including George Sansouci, Tim Cahill, Liz Ford, Eddie Abraham, Jorge Rodriquez, and Rob Pole.
Vidal started off strong, taking control of the top half of the bracket with wins over Lionel Rivera 7-3, Mhet Vergara 7-4, Michael Yednak 7-5, Pete Testerella Sr. 7-5, and Ford 7-5. Leading the bottom half of the bracket was George Sansouci, scoring victories over Mike Boyles 7-1, Tim Dlugosz 7-0, Sammy Wu 7-2, Rodriquez 7-1, and Pole 7-6.
Vidal ended up meeting Sansouci to play for the hot seat, which was a fairly even match that saw Vidal pull it off at the end with a 7-5 win. Cahil was waiting for Sansouci on the one-loss side, but this match was all Sansouci, who won the match easily 6-3.
It was a rematch between Sansouci and Vidal in the double-elimination finals. Though Sansouci won the first set handily 7-2, the second set was dominated by Vidal, who wrested the match and title from Sansouci with a 6-3 victory.

Testa Takes First on Blaze Billiard Tour

Joey Testa scored the win at Q-Ball Billiards in Vineland, NJ.
The latest stop on the Blaze 9-Ball Tour was hosted by Jose Garcia’s room, Q-Ball, in Vineland, NJ, with Joey Testa taking top honors.
Testa led the top half of the bracket, with wins over Don Polo 7-0, Bill Smith Jr. 7-6, and Matt Krah 7-5. Leading the bottom half of the bracket, Adam Kielar showed wins over Scott Freeman 7-6, Jose Burgos 7-2, and Bob Madara 7-1.
Kielar and Testa met in a one-sided match that saw Testa easily win 7-4, earning the hot seat. Waiting for Kielar on the one-loss side was Wali Muhammad. This match was all Kielar from the start, as he dealt Muhammad a 7-0 donut.
In the finals it was a rematch between Kielar and Testa, with Kielar having to defeat Testa twice. In the first set it went to double-hill, with Kielar winning 7-6. After that set both players decided to be co-champions.

Eddie Abraham topped Adam Kielar in the finals of the Blaze Tour at One Shot Billiards in Somerset, NJ.
One Shot Billiards in Somerset, NJ, played host to the Blaze 9-Ball Tour’s October 5 stop. This $1,000-added event brought players such as Jose Parica, Joe Frady, and Matt Krah, with Eddie Abraham taking home top honors.
Leading the top half the bracket was Adam Kielar, scoring victories over Larry Ross 7-5, Shaun Dobson 7-2, and Frady. Parica took charge of the bottom half, with wins over Tyler Foy 7-1, Mike Fingers 7-4, and Abraham 7-4.
Parica was sent to the one-loss side by Kielar after Kielar took the hot seat 7-5. Abraham awaited Parica in the semifinals, and he won their match easily 7-3. In the double-elimination finals, Abraham defeated Kielar 7-5 in the first set and 7-6 in the second.

Joe Testa bested Eddie Abraham to win the Blaze 9-Ball tour stop at Drexeline Billiards in Drexel Hill, PA.
Drexeline Billiards hosted the September 28 stop of the Blaze 9-Ball Tour, with a field of 40 players coming out to play. Jose Parica, Eddie Abraham, Josh Brothers, Matt Krah, Many Chau, Mike Fingers, and Denise Reeves were among them, but it was Joey Testa who walked away with the lion’s share and the title.
Testa led the top half of the bracket, notching victories over Parica 7-5, Bill Smith Jr.7-4, Brothers 7-2, and George Ellinger 7-1. Leading the bottom half of the bracket was Eddie Abraham with wins over Mark Horn 7-1, Shaun Dobson 7-4, Dustin Paris 7-1, and Manny Chau 7-5.
Abraham and Testa collided in the hot seat match, with Testa taking control from the start, winning easily 7-4. Waiting for Abraham on the one-loss side was Parica. Abraham had the reins from the beginning and won the match 7-4. Testa and Abraham decided to play one match in the finals—it was a tough battle, but in the end, Testa won the match 7-6.

Josh Brother outlasted the field to win the Blaze Tour stop at Atlantic City Billiards Club.
Atlantic City Billiards Club hosted the Blaze 9 Ball Tour on Sunday September 21, 2008. 40 players came out to play, players like: Ga-Young Kim, Josh Brothers, Shaun Wilkie, Caroline Pao, Joey Testa, Scott Freeman, John Spencer, and Rob Palm.
Leading the top half the bracket Josh Brothers with wins over Joe Frady 7-3, Matt Haines 7-0, Mike Przywara 7-3, and Ga-Young Kim 7-3. Leading the bottom half of the bracket Shaun Wilkie with wins over Jay Paranich 7-4, Mike Boyles 7-2, Shaun Dobson 7-6, and Matt Krah 7-6.
Playing for the hot seat was Shaun Wilkie VS Josh Brothers this was a one way match with Shaun Wilkie taking control from the start and winning easily 7-3, sending Josh Brothers to the one lost side. Waiting for Josh Brothers on the one lost side was Joey Testa, this was a good match with Josh Brothers pulling it off at the end with a 7-5 win to get to the finals.
In the finals it was a rematch with Josh Brothers VS Shaun Wilkie both players decided on one race to 7. This was a great match that went to the hill but when it was all said and done it was Josh Brothers winning 7-6 and the event.

Francisco "Django" Bustamante snared a Blaze Tour victory at Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn, NY.
Francisco Bustamante stole the show at the Blaze 9-Ball Tour’s Annual NYC Championships August 24. Hosted by Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn, NY, this event attracted a field of 61 pool stars from all over the world.
With the field peppered with players such as Johnny Archer, Manny Chau, Mike Davis, Shaun Wilkie, and Alan Rolan, it was difficult to pick a champion, but last event’s winner, Mika Immonen, blazed through the top half of the bracket with wins over Alex Gilvarg 9-1, Ray Lee 9-0, Mhet Vergara 9-2, Bustamante 9-7, and Davis 9-7. Chau, last event’s runner-up, led the bottom half, notching victories over Ariel Rivera 9-1, Kevin Coyle 9-3, Mike Fingers 9-1, Mike Dechaine 9-5, and Chavez 9-3.
In a replay of the August 11 event’s final match, Immonen and Chau met to play for the hot seat. However, in a different outcome, Chau easily won the match 9-5 to send Immonen to the semifinal match. There he met Bustamante, whom he had earlier defeated. A motivated Bustamante stormed through Immonen 7-1 to reach the finals. In the single race-to-9 finals, Bustamante held on to his momentum and handily defeated Chau 9-4.

Eddie Abraham earned first place at the July 27 stop of the Blaze 9-Ball Tour, defeating Adam Kielar in the finals. Atlantic City Billiard Club in Egg Harbor, NJ, hosted the one-day event, which garnered 45 top pool players from the Northeast.
Abraham went undefeated to the finals, taking victories over Joey Testa 7-5, Danko Campese 7-3, Matt Krah 7-6, and Allen Hopkins 7-2. Leading the bottom half of the bracket was Dawn Hopkins, notching wins over Lloyd Price 7-1, Mel Free 7-2, Rob Palm 7-4, Christine Liotti 7-2, and Evan Bostron 7-1.
Hopkins and Abraham met up in the winners’-side finals. In this lopsided match, Abraham handled Hopkins easily, sending her to the semifinals with a 7-2 victory. Waiting there for her was Kielar, who pulled away to win the match 6-3 and reach the finals.
Kielar had to best Abraham twice in the finals to win the tournament. The first set went hill-hill, with Kielar winning 7-6. In the second set, Abraham won easily 6-3.

Drexeline Billards in Drexel Hill, PA, hosted the July 20, one-day Blaze 9-Ball Tour event, won by Ed Matushonek. Matushonek took wins over Mike Donato 7-5, Matt Krah 7-4, Lou Patrikios 7-5, Mike Praseutsy 7-4, and Joey Testa 7-5. Leading the bottom half of the bracket was Joe Hong with wins over Jeff Richardson 7-5, Chuck Fought Sr. 7-2, Troy Whitfield 7-5, Mike Miller 7-4, and Eddie Abraham 7-2.
Matushonek and Hong met in the hot seat match, with Matushonek winning the one-sided match easily 7-1. However, Krah made his way through the one-loss side by winning nine matches in a row to reach the finals. In the true double-elimination finals, Krah had to defeat Matushonek twice to win. He came close, winning the first set 7-5, but Matushonek won the second set 6-3 to gain the title.

The Blaze 9-Ball Tour made its way to Cosmo’s Billiards in Dickson City, PA, July 13. A strong field of 32 came out to play, with Mike Miller taking home top honors.
Miller led the top half of the bracket, notching wins over Chuck Fought Jr. 7-5, Chuck Fought Sr. 7-3, and Joey Korsiak 7-3. Leading the bottom half of the bracket was Lester Smulowitz, with wins over Angelo Inness 7-2, Dave Daya 7-2, Eddie Abraham 7-4, and Justin Muller 7-5.
Miller ended up playing for the hot seat against Smulowitz. He pulled away easily to win 7-3, sending Smulowitz to the one-loss side. Waiting for him was Tim Tanana, who Smulowitz ousted 6-4 to earn a rematch with Miller.
In the true double-elimination finals, Smulowitz had to defeat Miller twice to take home the title. But Miller was too much for Smulowitz that day, winning the match 7-4.

Blaze 9-Ball Tour made its way to Rockaway Billiards in Rockaway, NJ, where a strong field came out to play. This June 29 event saw Mike Miller triumph to take first place.
Miller led the top half of the bracket, notching wins over Evan Broxmyer 7-6, Larry Ingram 7-0, Bob Guerra 7-3, and Wali Muhammad 7-3. Leading the bottom half of the bracket, Biker Bill scored victories over Jose Burgos 7-6, Carl Khan 7-5, and Kenny Rutman 7-6.
Bill and Miller met in the hot seat match to see who would advance to the finals. Miller pulled off the 7-5 win, sending Bill to the one-loss side where Rutman was waiting. In this one-way match, Rutman easily won 7-3 to make it into the finals.
In the finals it was Miller facing off with Rutman. In the true double-elimination format, Rutman had to defeat Miller twice. But things didn’t get that far, because Miller took care of business and won the first set handily 7-3.
