Michael “Bulldawg” Fuller went undefeated through a tough crowd at the February 19-20 stop of the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour to nab his first tour win of the season. The $1,000-added event was held at On The Snap Billiards in Fuquay-Varina, NC.

Fuller went undefeated through a tough crowd at the February 19-20 stop of the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour to nab his first tour win of the season.
Fuller knocked aside Cary Dunn 8-4 to meet up with Sidney Champion in the hot seat match. Champion, who’d managed to edge past frequent high-finisher B.J. Ussery 8-7, didn’t fare so well against Fuller, moving west 8-5.
On the other side, Adam Stanton, who’d fallen earlier to Ussery 8-4 after being up 4-2, took care of Dunn 8-5 to get another crack at Ussery. This time he once again nudged ahead, pushing the score to 4-3, but Ussery rebounded, finishing the set 8-5 to get his own second chance against Champion in the semifinals. Holding Champion to five games and leaving him behind in third, Ussery moved on to the final match against Fuller.
Ussery opened up strong in the single race-to-11 final match, getting out to a 4-1 and 5-3 lead, but Fuller fought back with five racks of his own to get up 8-5. Though Ussery managed to mark up the next two games, the rest of the set went to Fuller, who finished with three straight games to take first 11-8.
Though Adam Stanton didn’t cash in the main event, he did manage to put a little money in his pocket by dropping a ball after the break in the break-and-run contest. Stanton’s shot earned him $93, and the pot will move up to $94 at March 19-20 event. The final winner of the weekend was Eric Fair, who went home with a Jacoby cue valued at $500 after his ticket was drawn in the raffle.

B.J. Ussery rebounded from a late loss at the January 30 stop of the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour to best Mike Davis in the finals and take top honors. The $1,000-added event was hosted by On The Snap Billiards in Fuquay-Varina, NC.

The first time Ussery and Davis met was in the hot seat match, after Ussery had sent Ty Bissett to the one-loss side 8-2 and Davis defeated Chris Turner 8-5. Their meeting turned out to be a lopsided match that saw Ussery head west after an 8-1 routing by Davis.
Charlene and Mike Harvey were relegated to a seventh-place tie after being ousted by Tony Morrison and Arnold Hamlet, respectively, both 8-3. Hamlet in turn was sent home in fifth place by Chris Turner 8-6, while Bissett tied with Turner after an 8-5 loss to Morrison.
Morrison and Turner ended up colliding in the quarterfinal match, with Morrison advancing by an 8-2 win to face Ussery in the semifinals. But Ussery was determined to wreak revenge on Davis for his hot seat loss and turned Morrison away 8-3. It was an epic struggle in the finals, but eventually it was Ussery who eked out the 11-10 victory.

Strickland snapped off the January 8-9 installment of the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour, besting Fuller in the finals to take the $1,000 first-place prize.
On the winners’ side, Fuller was on a headlong course to collide with Strickland as he defeated Chris Vollmar 8-4 in the final four. After Strickland bested Sidney Champion 8-5, the two met in the hot seat match. There it was all Strickland, as he sent Fuller to the west side with an 8-4 victory.
Champion rebounded on the left side to whitewash Chase Campbell 8-0 but fell soon thereafter to B.J. Ussery 8-4 in the quarterfinals. Before that Ussery had eliminated Vollmar 8-3 to tie with Campbell for fifth place. But Ussery was edged aside in the semifinal match by Fuller in a double-hill match that saw Fuller head to the finals for a rematch with Strickland.
In the extended single race to 11, Strickland won the lag, broke, and ran out. Fuller managed to take a 2-1 lead after getting ball in hand in the third rack, but he scratched on the following break, allowing Strickland to clear the table. Strickland then put together a three-pack and won the next game as well to make it 6-2. At that point he scratched, and Fuller ran out to win another game. It was his last, though—Strickland won the next five racks in a row to win the title 11-3.

Keith Bennett dominated the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour last season, and though he shared the spotlight with some of the Carolinas’ other heavy hitters throughout this season, all eyes were back on him at the October 2-3 finale. The site of Bennett’s third victory of the year was On The Snap Billiards in Fuquay-Varina, NC, where a talented field gathered for the $1,000-added event.

Bennett dominated the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour last season, and though he shared the spotlight with some of the Carolinas’ other heavy hitters throughout this season, all eyes were back on him at the October 2-3 finale.
Bennett forced his way into the hot seat match with a shutout win over B.J. Ussery, who topped four events this season. Two other past winners, Michael “Bulldawg” Fuller and Sam Monday, battled for the other spot, and it went to Fuller 7-5. Against Bennett, though, Fuller marked up just five games himself, and he moved over to the semifinals.
On the left side of the bracket, Cary Dunn got past Delton Howard 7-4 but then fell 7-4 to Ussery, landing in fifth. Meanwhile, Chris Turner suffered the same fate, ousting Peaches Fuller 7-4 only to run into Monday, who held him to two games. In the quarterfinal match, Monday took care of Ussery 7-4 to advance to a semifinal rematch with Fuller, but in a replay of their earlier match, Monday finished in third 7-5.
The single race-to-11 final match began evenly enough, with Fuller tying the score at one and three apiece. But after that, it was all Bennett, who notched up the final eight racks to earn his victory 11-3.
The weekend’s other winners were Solomon Pope, who took home $80 for his 7-2 win over Oliver Smith in the finals of the early bird tournament, and Cary Dunn, whose 9-3 win over Smith in the finals of the second chance event earned him $40. Dunn pocketed another $20 for topping the break contest, and Charlie Crowper went home with a $600 Limited Edition Jacoby Cue after his ticket was drawn in the raffle. BJ Ussery got a chance to line his pockets a little when his ticket was pulled for the break and run contest, which had grown to $114 per ball made after the break. Ussery’s pocketed a ball on the break, and after making the 1 ball and and a 2-7 combination, found himself straight in on the 2 ball. He made it, but was hooked on the 3 ball, ending his run at $342. The break and run pot will go to $94 per ball at the season opener in November.

Keith Bennett, who last won a Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina event in January, found himself back in the winner’s circle after getting past the best in the Carolinas. The $1,000-added twelfth stop of the tour was held at Break Time Billiards in Wilmington, NC, the weekend of July 24-25.
The final four on the winners’ side were a fearsome bunch—all past winners—and Bennett swept past Sam Monday 7-3 to reach the hot seat match against Michael “Bulldawg” Fuller, who’d just sent last month’s winner B.J. Ussery west 7-4. Another 7-3 victory for Bennett secured him the hot seat and sent Fuller to the semifinals to try for another chance.
On the left side of the bracket, two of Bennett’s early victims were fighting for their own second chances. Jared McGee edged out Larry Faulk 7-6 and junior player Jackson “Smokey” Jeffreys 7-2 to face Ussery. Meanwhile, Hindu Williams ousted Rodney Strickland 7-4 and Arnold Hamlett 7-6 to face Monday. That was as far as McGee and Williams got, though, as they landed in fifth 7-6 and 7-5, respectively. In the quarterfinals, Monday notched another 7-5 win to earn his spot against Fuller in the semifinals, where the two battled for the right to fight Bennett once again. It was Monday who reached the goal first, while Fuller stayed behind in third 7-4.

Keith Bennett, who last won a Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina event in January, found himself back in the winner’s circle after getting past the best in the Carolinas.
In Friday’s early bird tournament, Barry Irving took home $140 for his 7-6 win in the finals over Dana Hallett, who took home $85. Hindu Williams earned $50 for third, and Sam Monday earned $25 for fourth. Jackson Jeffreys was a two-time winner this weekend, pocketing $35 for topping the break contest, and $60 for his 7-6 win in the finals of the juniors’ division over Gabe Grissom. Terry Faulk once again took the ladies’ event, and Anton Hall won a $600 limited-edition Jacoby cue in the raffle. The break and run pot went unclaimed at this event, and will move to $105 per ball at the next. In Sunday’s second chance event, Larry Faulk swept past Nolan Leonard 7-2 in the finals, earning $100, while Leonard earned $40.

Strickland Stomps the Jacoby Field
Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour / Raleigh, NC

After a couple of disappointing showings on the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour earlier this season, Earl Strickland is back in top form. “The Pearl” showed off his stuff by plowing undefeated through a strong field of 15 at the $1,000-added June 26-27 stop, which was held at Brown’s Billiards in Raleigh, NC.
To reach the hot seat match, Strickland first had to get past BJ Ussery, who was looking for his fourth Jacoby win in a row — fifth total this season — but Strickland managed to mark up the last game in their hill-hill match to meet up with Keith Bennett, who’d just sent Delton Howard west 7-4. No strangers, the hot seat match, the finals, or each other, Bennett and Strickland both fought hard to become the last man standing on the winners’ side, but it was Strickland who earned it 7-5.
On the one-loss side, Sam Monday, who was there thanks to a second-round 7-4 loss to Howard, swept past WPBA pro Belinda Calhoun 7-2 and Brian Simpson 7-2 to meet up with Ussery. Meanwhile, Tony Morrison notched his own 7-2 victory over Jeff Pruitt and a strong 7-1 win over Chris Vollmar to face Howard, but a 7-4 loss planted him in fifth. Howard moved on to the quarterfinals against Monday, who’d ended Ussery’s hopes of four in a row 7-2, but Howard’s second go at Monday didn’t end as well for him as the first — Monday exacted his revenge 7-4 to advance to the semifinals against Bennett. Bennett was ready to get back to Strickland, though, and he blew past Monday 7-1 to get there.
But Strickland was ready for him, and the first six games of the single race-to-11 final match were over in 18 minutes — Strickland was up 6-0. His scratch on the break in the next rack, though, gave control to Bennett, who ran to a 4-9 combination to mark up his first game, and he marked up his second after Strickland hung the 2 ball. Strickland took the next two to make it 8-2, and though Bennett rebounded a bit to get it to 8-5 and 9-7, that was as close as he got. Strickland took the last two racks to close out his first win this season 11-7.

After a couple of disappointing showings on the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour earlier this season, Strickland is back in top form.

BJ Ussery won his third Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour event in a row the weekend of June 5-6, besting Keith Bennett in the finals. The $1,000-added event was hosted by On The Snap Billiards in Fuquay Varina, NC, and attracted eight of the South’s finest players.
Ussery made his way to the finals after a late loss to Bennett in the winners’ side final four 7-4. After that victory, Bennett went on to the hot seat to meet Earl Strickland, who had just bested Chris Turner 7-4. Bennett was on par in this match and was able to send the Hall of Famer to the west side with a 7-3 win.
Husband and wife Bill and Jacki Dudgan tied for seventh place after being eliminated Arnold Hamlet 7-5 and Chris Vollmer 7-3, respectively. Hamlet went home in fifth place after being defeated by Turner 7-5, while Ussery took care of Vollmer 7-1. A determined Ussery went on to face Turner in the quarterfinals, and another 7-1 victory put Ussery one step closer to the finals.
An epic hill-hill battle with Strickland saw Ussery eke out a 7-6 win to reach Bennett again. In the extended race-to-11 finals, the players traded games at the beginning, but soon Ussery was holding a 7-3 and then a 10-4 lead. Bennett rallied to make it closer at 10-7, but a 1-9 combination in the final rack was all Ussery needed to take his third tour title in a row.

Another Jacoby Billiards Victory for Ussery

B.J. Ussery, who last won a Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour event in January, made a strong move through the one-loss side at the April 17-18 event to regain his spot on top. Ussery’s victory came at the expense of the strong field that gathered at On The Snap Billiards in Fuquay-Varina, NC, for the $1,000-added event.
Ussery suffered an early 7-3 loss to Keith Bennett, who went on to reach the winners’ side final four. There Bennett faced Johnny Griffin, who dealt him a 7-5 blow to arrive in the hot seat match against Arnold Hamlet, who’d sent Peaches Fuller west 7-3. Hamlet went west himself, though, after Griffin earned the spot in the finals 7-5.
On the left side of the bracket, Michael “Bulldawg” Fuller blew through Chris Rhoades 7-1 and Delton Howard 7-1 to face Bennett, whom he ousted 7-5 to reach the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Ussery got past Michael Dearing 7-4 and Chris Turner 7-1 to meet up with P. Fuller, who missed a faceoff with his son in the quarterfinals by two games, landing in fifth 7-5. Ussery, who’d fallen to “Bulldawg” 11-4 in the finals of an event in March, had exacted 7-3 revenge early in this event, and he got more vengeance in the quarterfinals, planting Fuller in fourth 7-2. One more obstacle stood in his way, but after taking care of Hamlet 7-3, he found himself in the finals once again.
In the single race-to-11 match, Griffin and Ussery traded games until Ussery led 4-3. Three games in a row put him well ahead at 7-3, but Griffin fought back, notching five games straight to take the lead for the first time at 8-7. But the rest of the 9 balls were Ussery’s, and he earned his victory 11-8.

B.J. Ussery, who last won a Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour event in January, made a strong move through the one-loss side at the April 17-18 event to regain his spot on top.
Friday’s early bird event drew 13 players, and Keith Bennett walked away with the top prize of $140 after his decisive 7-1 victory in the finals over Chris Vollmar, whom he’d also taken care of in the hot seat match 5-2. Vollmar received $80, and Craig Wolfe received $40 for third. In Sunday’s second chance event, Michael Yingling pocketed $100 for his 7-6 victory over Vollmar, who took home $60. Pam Bartholomew topped the ladies’ division, while Jordan Douglas topped the juniors’. Vollmar earned another $50 when he won the break contest, but the break and run purse went unclaimed once again, pushing the pot to $87 per ball for the next event. The final winner of the weekend was Lynn Aycock, who found himself the owner of a $600 Jacoby cue when his ticket was drawn in the raffle.

One of the Southeast’s most dominant forces, Michael “Bulldawg” Fuller added another notch to his belt when he went undefeated through the March 27-28 Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour stop. The $1,000-added event drew a talented field to Babineau’s Billiards in Raleigh, NC.
A 7-5 win over Brad Shearer put Fuller into the hot seat match against Chris Turner, who’d just sent Johnny Griffin west 7-5. Turner found himself on the flip side of another 7-5 match, and he moved to the other side to vie for a rematch.
On the left side of the bracket, two tour hotshots were fighting for the right to go on. Recent winner B.J. Ussery, who’d taken a first-round loss to Shearer, earned the right to continue by holding Sam Monday to three games. Meanwhile, another former winner, Arnold Hamlet, ousted Keith Crawford 7-4 to meet up with Griffin. A 7-4 victory put Griffin into the quarterfinals against Ussery, who’d earned his revenge on Shearer 7-6. Ussery’s 7-5 win over Griffin pushed him into the semifinals, and after edging out Turner 7-6, Ussery moved on to the single race-to-11 final match against Fuller.

Nevel Tells Archer “The Truth”
Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour / Wilmington, NC
by Lea Andrews
A late loss at the March 6-7 stop of the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina tour did nothing to slow down Larry Nevel. “The Truth” rebounded to top the tough field that gathered at Break Time Billiards in Wilmington, NC, for the $1,000-added event.
After handing Nevel his 7-4 loss, Keith Bennett moved into the hot seat match against Johnny Archer, who’d just shut out Trey Greene. Archer claimed the hot seat 7-3, while Bennett moved over to semifinals. On the west side, an early victim of Nevel’s, Michael “Bulldawg” Fuller, notched a 7-4 win over Zach Wilson and a shut-out win over Greene to reach the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, another one of Nevel’s victims, Shawn “Big Bubba” Putnam, who’d reached the finals in each of his three Jacoby appearances so far, found his streak come to an end at his fourth event as he faced Nevel once again. Nevel dropped Putnam into fifth 7-2 to meet back up with Fuller, and another 7-2 win put him into the semifinals against Bennett. Earning his revenge 7-3, Nevel advanced to the single race-to-11 final match.
Though Archer got out to a 3-0 and 5-1 lead, Nevel was able to take advantage of a scratch on the break and a dry break to gain momentum and tie it up at six games apiece, but when he made nothing on the break in the next rack, Archer regained the lead 7-6. It was his last lead, though. Another scratch on the break allowed Nevel to tie it up, and two more racks in a row put him on the hill 10-7. Archer marked up the next rack, but after pocketing three balls on the break in the final rack, he found himself without a shot on the 2 ball. Archer’s well-played safety left Nevel hooked, but Nevel’s unbelievable kick shot put the 2 ball in the pocket and left the path to the 9 ball open. Nevel pocketed the rest of the balls to earn his victory 11-8.
Nevel also took first in Friday’s 16-entrant early bird tournament, earning $150 for his 7-1 win in the finals over Zach Wilson, who took home $95. Hindu Williams earned $50 for third, while Kenny Chin earned $25 for fourth. Patty Sutherland won the ladies’ division on Saturday, while Caleb Grissom topped the juniors’. In Sunday’s second chance event, Kenny Chin earned $80 for edging out Barry Irving 7-6, while Irving earned $20. Karl Deweese took home $80 for beating out five others in the break contest, and CJ Genta became the owner of a new Jacoby Custom Cue after her name was drawn in the raffle.

A late loss at the March 6-7 stop of the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina tour did nothing to slow down Nevel.
